20, 402, 6pp., engraved portrait frontispiece, three further sectional title pages. Bound in contemporary calf six panelled spine with raised bands, gilt lining, very small remains of original spine label. Fairly worn and scratched to boards, bumped to edges,some splitting to spine loss to head and tail. Fr. pastedown has a contemporary report of a memorial to Thomas Prior (1681-1751), erected in Dublin, tipped-in. rear pastedown removed. 2 conremporary (1800, 1804) owners names to title page. some staining, spotting throughout. 'Prior, famous British diplomatist, was arguably the most important poet writing in English between the death of Dryden (1700) and the poetic majority of Pope in 1712.' - DNB. [156]
